Next meeting 11th May. SECOND MONDAY OF THE MONTH DUE TO BANK HOLIDAY. Prepare to get dirty! If you have any newspaper it would be appreciated.

About Bungay Flower Club

A friendly club for anyone who enjoys flowers, creativity and company.

A welcoming club in the heart of Bungay

Bungay Flower Club brings together people who enjoy flowers, foliage and design – from complete beginners to experienced arrangers. Our meetings are relaxed and sociable, with plenty of chances to chat, ask questions and pick up ideas.

What we do

We usually meet once a month for an evening of flowers and friendship. Our programme includes professional demonstrations, practical “have-a-go” sessions, informative talks and occasional social events. You don’t need any previous experience – just an interest in flowers and a willingness to have a go.

The club is run by a small volunteer committee who look after the programme, finances, membership and the smooth running of our meetings. We’re always grateful for offers of help – whether that’s setting out chairs, making tea and coffee, selling raffle tickets or helping to publicise our events.

If you’d like to know more about how the club is run or are interested in getting involved, please speak to a committee member at a meeting or contact us via the Contact page.

What usually happens at a club meeting?

We have 9 meetings a year, held on the first Monday of the month. (If this falls on a bank holiday then the meeting is held on the second Monday of the month.) Doors open at 6.30 and the meeting starts at 7.00pm, with a break halfway through for refreshments.

We have an area demonstrator on 7 occasions where they may demonstrate up to 6 designs for us.

All the designs are raffled at the end of the meeting, and you may be lucky enough to win one.

On 2 club nights we have a hands on evening where members are shown a design and technique and encouraged to produce their own. On these occasions flowers are provided free of charge.

At each of these club meetings there is a club competition, where members are encouraged to submit a design to be judged by the demonstrator.

Each year, at the AGM, the members who have gained most points in the competitions receive a prize.

Two major open events each year

As well as our regular club nights, Bungay Flower Club is proud to host two large open events every year. These are bigger events than a typical meeting and are open to visitors from across the area – not just our members.

  • A spring event, with stalls, a speaker, lunch and a national demonstrator
  • An early autumn event with stalls, a speaker, lunch and a national demonstrator.

These open events are a real highlight of our year and something that many smaller flower clubs do not offer. They’re a great opportunity to bring friends along, enjoy a special day out and see top-quality floral design on stage.

Who can join?

Anyone is welcome to join Bungay Flower Club – you don’t need to live in Bungay itself. Many of our members come from the surrounding villages and towns. Visitors can come along to see what we do before deciding whether to join.

New members often tell us they were nervous about coming for the first time but were soon put at ease by the friendly atmosphere. You’re very welcome to come on your own – there will always be someone to say hello and make sure you’re looked after.

If you’re interested in joining, please visit our Join the Club page and send us your details.

When and where we meet

We normally meet each month at The Emmanuel Church Rooms, Bungay. Doors usually open at 18:30 with the demonstration or meeting starting at 19:00. There is free parking nearby and refreshments are available.

Please see the What’s On page for up-to-date details of our programme, including any changes to times or venues.
